Greensprings Trail
The Greensprings Interpretive Trail meanders for 3 1/2 miles through wetlands and forests. Along the trail are interpretive displays explaining historical information about the farmland that the English Colonists established here as well as details about various aspects of the wildlife and ecosystem. This hiking trail links to the Powhatan Creek multi-use trail and the popular Virginia Capital Trail.
Along the Greensprings Trail, hikers will see the Mainland Farm, which is the oldest continuously cultivated farm in America. Also, adjacent to the Powhatan Creek Trail, the remains of a historic church have been excavated in recent years. Archeologists have located the foundation of the Church on the Main, which dates back to the mid 1700’s. Visitors who stop by this site can read historical markers explaining the history of the church.
