Wakefield Park

Wakefield Park

Wakefield Park, located in the heart of the Capital region, is host to numerous mountain biking events throughout the year. It is a convenient and scenic spot for the MTB crowd in the DC area. The singletrack trails are geared towards mostly beginner to intermediate level riders.

The trails at Wakefield are broken down into three basic areas: creek trail, racetrack and bowl.  The creek trail is the easiest and is fairly flat.  The racetrack is a little more challenging with log piles and other terrain features thrown in to make it a little more interesting.  The bowl is located at the southern end of the park behind the softball fields.  Don't miss the berms and slalom course in the powerline section.

Conveniently, Wakefield connects to the Lake Accotink Park trails via a tunnel underneath Braddock Road and also provides access to the Fairfax Cross County Trail which passes through the park.  Another great connector from Wakefield is to head west along Braddock Road to the intersection with Wakefield Chapel Road where you can jump on the Long Branch Trail for more miles of fun.
