Lake Accotink offers an abundance of activities. The park features a 55 acre lake where you can fish, kayak, canoe, or take a tour boat ride. A carousel, snack bar, playground and picnic tables ensure a fun time for the whole family. The 4 mile hiking and biking loop circumnavigating the park can be accessed at various entrance points along the way.

Lake Fairfax / Colt's Neck - Lake Fairfax Park

Easily accessible from Reston, Lake Fairfax Park sees large crowds every summer weekend destined for the water park, the large picnic area, canoeing on the lake, camping, etc.
Mountain bikers have several miles of wooded single track trails at the southern end of the park in addition to the Colt's Neck loop, which passes through Lake Fairfax Park and continues on to the Fairfax CCT and W&OD trails to make a 9 1/2 mile loop.

This 10 mile mountain bike trail is located in the heart of Newport News across the street from the Mariner's Museum. The trail is mainly smooth, flat single track, with some undulating terrain & a few obstacles to keep you on your toes.

Once the site of the Lorton Prison, Fairfax County has been transformed this piece of property into a recreational use area. There are several planned projects including an Equestrian Center and sports complex. A golf club and a disk golf course already exist on the property.

Lehigh Gorge State Park

Lehigh Gorge State Park runs 26 miles from White Have to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The trail is an easy, flat ride along an abandoned railroad bed, with scenic views of the steep mountainous terrain cut by the Lehigh River. The crushed gravel trail is at a slight downhill grade from White Haven south. If you want to do the entire ride, a shuttle service provides a drop-off/pickup at White Haven and Rockport.

You can spend the entire day at Little Bennett Regional Park hiking or biking the 20 miles of trails and not see the entire park. Mostly double track trails, with some single track, this 3,700 acre wooded park has gently rolling hills, picturesque streams, and beautiful mature forests.

Little Buffalo State Park

Little Buffalo State Park, located in central Pennsylvania near the town of Newport offers a variety of activities ranging from hiking, picnicking, camping, swimming, boating and fishing to name but a few.  The park also has numerous educational programs offered to the public on a wide verity of topics.  There are about 8 miles of hiking trails at Little Buffalo State Park that are generally woodland trail and are open to cross country skiing in the winter months.

Lums Pond State Park

Lums Pond State Park, located 20 minutes south of Newark, Delaware, features a 200 acre freshwater pond that is popular for fishing and boating. A 7 mile hiking trail along the perimeter of the pond affords picturesque views of the water. In addition to the hiking trail, there is a 10 mile multi-use trail, but note that this trail can be quite boggy in places and at times is impassable by bicycle.  Lums Pond also has a campground next to the lake, and several picnic areas located throughout the park.

Massanutten

The western slope of Massanutten Mountain has over 20 miles of mountain bike trails that range from wide double track to technical steep, rocky single track and everything in between. Be prepared for some lung-busting climbs to the top, but keep in mind that the switchback descents with nicely banked turns will make the effort worthwhile.
