Preddy Creek Trails

CAMBC, the Charlottesville Mountain Bike Association has done an excellent job maintaining and improving upon the trails at Preddy Creek. Though a small park, with about 8 miles of trails, it is well worth a visit. The outer loop trail is a smooth single track trail that makes excellent use of the existing terrain with several fun downhill sections along the way. The park opened in the spring of 2011 and is already a popular park with hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers alike.

Presidential Range - Mount Washington

Named for presidents and public figures of the United States, the mountains of the Presidential Range are located in the heart of New Hampshire's beautiful White Mountains with the highest and most famous peak being Mount Washington, coming in at 6288 ft.  It is home to the highest wind speed ever recorded on the planet, 231 mph. This peak houses a research station run by The Mount Washington Observatory, a non-profit organization that dedicates itself to climate and weather research and education. The summit is accessible by the Mt Washington Auto Road, The Cog Railway, and by numerous picturesque hiking trails (the most rewarding and enjoyable way to get to the top!).

Located only 30 miles from Washington DC, the 15,000 acre Prince William Forest Park is a great place to get away from the city and spend the weekend camping, hiking, biking, or fishing. The park offers over 20 miles of paved bike paths and fire roads and over 30 miles of hiking trails. There are an abundance of camping options, with 5 cabin camps and over 100 tent and rv sites on the premises.

Raystown Lake - Allegrippis Trails

Located at picturesque Raystown Lake, the Allegrippis Trail System was built by the IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) with the help of several local and state organizations. The trail system flows extremely well, especially the trails east of 7 Points Rd. - they are smooth, fast and have many long sections with rolling hills that give it a pump-track feel. A visit here is well worth the trip.

Riverbend Regional Park

Located along the picturesque Potomac River, visitors can enjoy the water by fishing, kayaking, and canoeing or hiking along the bank on the Potomac Heritage Trail. Picnic tables are located across from the visitor center, which offers refreshments, a gift shop, and activities for kids.

Located near Upper Marlboro, MD, Rosaryville State Park is only 1/2 hour from DC and 1 hour from Baltimore. The trail system consists of a main loop that is about 11 miles in length and some additional double track and single track trails that branch off of this loop.

Located just east of State College, Rothrock State Forest is a wilderness area with over 100 miles of gravel roads, double track trails, technical single track, and hiking trails. There are several overlooks on trails throughout the forest providing views of the surrounding countryside.

Round Valley Recreation Area

Encompassing about 5200 acres, the Round Valley Recreation Area is a park near Clinton, New Jersey featuring a picturesque reservoir surrounded by hiking and biking trails, a primitive campground, and several large picnic areas. The park is extremely popular and can get quite busy on summer weekends with visitors coming to enjoy the many water activities, including fishing, boating, and swimming. The small beach located near the picnic area is especially popular during this time. The trail network consists of a variety of difficulty levels, including wide double track to more challenging single track trails.
