Caledonia State Park

Caledonia State Park

Located between Chambersburg and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Caledonia State Park is named for an iron furnace that was owned by the abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens in the mid-1800's. The land was sold to the state in the early 1900's and became a state park in 1903. The original furnace is still on display next to the visitor center.

The park is nestled in the valley between Blue mountain and South Mountain and has 10 miles of hiking trails that wind their way through forests and historic areas. The Appalachian Trail passes through the park as well.

In addition to the hiking trails, the park offers a wide range of activities, including fishing, golfing, and swimming. The property also has a large campground and several cabins and a theater that features plays during the spring and summer months.
