Adirondack Park - Ampersand Mountain
Named after the Ampersand Creek, which has numerous hairpin turns, similar to an ampersand symbol, Ampersand Mountain is located in the northeastern quadrant of the Adirondack Park. The hike is a short 3.5 mile day hike and very popular with visitors.
The hike starts out fairly flat in a cozy dense forest. The last portion of the hike turns into a steep, rocky climb - quite a good cardio and quadriceps workout! The climb to the top of this 3352 ft. mountain is well worth the effort. Hikers will be rewarded with a bare rock summit that has vast views of the High Peaks Region with Ampersand Lake in the foreground and also of the Saranac Lakes region.
